Bible Study Methods
Method I
Read a few verses, and then answer these questions. (This method can be used for individual or group study.)
- What does it say?
- What does it mean?
- What does it mean to me personally?
- How can I specifically apply this to my life?
Method II
Another method is called S.P.E.C.K.A.:
S = Sin (Is there anything God is displeased with here, is it present in us?)
P = Promise (Is there a promise from God? How can I turn this into a prayer?)
E = Example (Are there any positive or negative examples for us to follow here? What can we learn from them?)
C = Commands (Are there any commands to obey here?)
K = Knowledge (What does this passage teach us about God? About ourselves? Or about how we relate to others?)
A = Accountability (Do I need accountability in this area of my life? How can we help hold one another accountable?)
